Midtown office workers like myself need some excitement on their lunch break every once in a while to break up the work-fast-casual chain lunch-work cycle. I naturally had to try this spot a couple blocks west of my office. Sushi is never a bad idea, and the quality and size of sushi establishments often have an inverse ratio in my experience. This place, despite its being incredibly hard to find, tucked away on the 2nd floor of a nondescript building, above a smoke shop, has achieved some notoriety, earning some rave reviews on the r/foodNYC subreddit, which I unabashedly rely on for finding hidden gems. It’s a hole-in-the-wall in the realest sense. My friend and I both ordered the two-roll lunch combo; I elected to pair the salmon/avocado and the yellowtail/scallion rolls. The fish was super-fresh and delicious, and the rolls were molded perfectly with the nori and subtly sweet sushi rice. Need I say more?
